Here’s how i get there, terribly straightforward. btw, i’m already on iPhone OS 3.0 beta 1 before upgrade.

1. Download the unoffical quickpwn here(discussion here) and the iPhone OS 3.0 beta 2 on Demonoid(use iphone firmware to search).

2. Launch iTunes(i’m on 8.1), Shift+Restore to choose the firmware(iPhone1,1_3.0_7A259g_Restore.ipsw) to update.

3. After done, start quickpwn.exe to jailbreak and activate. No unlock necessarily ‘coz the restore process won’t touch the baseband.

4. Sync back all of your stuff by iTunes. In my case, I always set it up as a new phone ‘coz doing so makes me feel it’s a like brand new one

Yesterday i’ve updated my iphone from firmware 2.2 to the latest firmware 2.2.1. Then JBed it by QuickPwn 2.5 by Dev-Team. Everything works fine, even several of my favorite 3rd-party apps for firmware 2.2 still can be able to be running very well, like iCosta 2.2 PinYin , OpenSSH + BossPref, and UCWeb 6.

2.2.1 is said to fix some bugs and make Safari more stable, well, that’s what they said. Perhaps one day of 2.2.1 experience is not enough for me to point it out.

1.iphone.xianguo.com and Google Reader – for news and my interested stuff.

Furthermore, lower cost ‘coz at that time I’m using GPRS/EDGE to access the internet.

2.iphone.youku.com, iphone.6.cn – for video watching.

video buffering speed is acceptable(Sure only when Wifi is available).

3.Baidu Zhidao – knowledge query, mostly on the way where GPRS/EDGE is the only way to get to the internet.

Besides, most of the zhidao webpages are mainly in text, which, again, cost me less and show me the whole page in a relatively shorter time.

Updated: Today is the 81st day since TaoTao came to this world. And here’s what she looks like now.

1. on the way of to-be-a-father

Couple of weeks later, I’m gonna be a father! My baby would come to this world! I’m really really looking forward to it. But before that, I have lots of things to learn and prepare.. You’ll have an idea of it if you are already a father or mother.

2. new driver with the new car

Yes, one of the things I’ve done for my coming daughter. I spent 25 days(from the day I started to drive to the day I passed the test) to get the driving license, 15 days to order the Lova and then I’m on the road in my car. I have to drive as more as possbile to accumulate driving and improve the skills so make sure I’m fully prepared whenever necessary.

Well, the two cents above make me a little bit out of my spare time. And there’s also some changes in my job, which makes me busier than before. So, all in all, I may not be able to keep updating this blog as often as before. My readers, sorry.

The Oct.1 7-day Holidays is coming. Really looking forward to it. 7 days for relax, you know

As a result, I think i should give this site a new looking. Kinda celebration.

And I prefer simple and clean theme, as always. So here comes the perfect White as Milk Theme.

Now I’m on the latest iphone 2.0.1 firmware(Thanks goes to Winpwn 2.0.4). And everything works flawlessly. Compared with 2.0, the biggest improvements i’ve found is the app launch speed is much faster. You may get more other 2.0.1 improvements here.

One more advantage of going to 2.0.1 is having both Installer 4.0 beta(youtube video) and Cydia on the phone. I don have any high expectation on it, just can’t wait to try it out myself

Even if not all of the old iphone 1.1.x apps has been ported to 2.0.x, still lots of apps there waiting for you. I myself have’t got enough time to try them yet, you may get it from the screenshot above. For now i installed iCosta PinYin, BossPrefs, Chinese Carrier bundles and two games.

One more thing, with Winpwn 2.0.4, i’ve resized the space for the apps from the default 300M to 700M, which means, i can install the apps as many as I want

i’ve just updated my iphone(BL 3.9, first-gen 4G version) from firmware 1.1.4 to the new 2.0 by the newly released winpwn. Actually I pwned the phone twice, first with winpwn 2.0.2 and second with winpwn 2.0.3(download).

I am a little bit excited about some of the new features in 2.0, even if until now I only played with it for 2 days. Here’s why i’m saying that.

1.full system-level international support

For Chinese iphone owners like me, we can choose either of Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. Accordingly we have the input method and region format.Yes, we’ve got hand-writing input method too, as picture shows above.

Besides, we can read gb2312-encoded Chinese email now.

2.App Store

This is the coolest part. Tons of apps in the store and you are just one-click away to them.You may also feel surprised when you are playing with those really creative apps, like WritingPad(reviewed by ipodtouchfans.com) and midomi(youtube video). I do. I really do.

However, in order to take full use of the App Store, you need an valid iTunes account. And generally you have to provide some payment details in the registration process, like an Visa credit card info. This may block some people. Hackint0sh has a post here where i found this solution. For the phone number and address, i filled with Apple’s own info

3.some new features, like Contact Search, WiFi-only mode, Exchange support etc.

Some of you may feel more excited on Exchange support or Contact Search. Sure they deserve. But for me,I think wifi-only does help. I do have that kinda moment when I wanna browse the web while keeping the phone off. Not possible in firmware 1.1.4 and below.

These are all the reasons that drive me to do the upgrade. But, nothing is perfect. iPhone 2.0 still needs improvement as well. As to my experience, 2.0 is a little bit slower, less stable than 1.1.4. Perhaps that’s why Apple is pushing the testing on 2.0.1 now. Guess they’ll relesae it soon.

Last but not least, currently there are very fewer native 3-rd party unofficial applications in 2.0 than in 1.1.4. To update or not, you decide.

iPhone 2 DOES has some new features which is really attractive to me, like native support to Chinese in Email and IME, like GPS, etc. Exchange support, not so much. I have no plan to use personal my iPhone to check those company emails.

Even though so far the 3-rd party apps cannot be allowed to be running, I’m pretty sure it’s a matter of time. I do have a strong belief on those very talented guys in the community like the iPhone Dev Team, even I have completely no idea of who they are, where they come from and how they look like.

Perhaps, I should start thinking of reselling my iPhone, just like everyone else. The best target is someone here in Beijing,China.

Actually my iPhone works pretty good in every functionality. No physical damage at all. If you decide to get it you will also have my full support in my convenient time. Software only,btw.
